I've always wondered, what my ideal male consumers bedroom would look like, something like this I'd imagine. Clean, simple, elegant, yet knows a lot about style. 

Metallics

Just had a brain wave when looking at these images of Metallic pants. We all know metallic lycra isn't all that crash hot, but what about in mens knee length leggings "I Think" it may just work! Keen to give it a go regardless...

Indian Elephant Cont.

In general, Asian elephants are smaller than African elephants and have the highest body point on the head. The tip of their trunk has one finger-like process. Their back is convex or level.^[2] Indian elephants reach a shoulder height of between 2 and 3.5 m (6.6 and 11.5 ft), weigh between 2,000 and 5,000 kg (4,400 and 11,000 lb), and have 19 pairs of ribs. Their skin color is lighter than of maximus with smaller patches of depigmentation, but darker than of sumatranus. Females are usually smaller than males, and have short or no tusks.^[3]

The Indian Elephant

 

The largest Indian elephant was 3.43 metres (11.3 ft) high at the shoulder.^[4] In 1985, two large elephant bulls were spotted for the first time in Bardia National Park, and named Raja Gaj and Kanchha. They roamed the park area together and made occasional visits to the females. Raja Gaj stood 11.3 ft (3.4 m) tall at the shoulder and had a massive body weight. His appearance has been compared to that of a mammoth due to his high bi-domed shaped head. His forehead and domes were more prominent than in other Asian bull elephants.^[5]
Indian elephants have smaller ears, but relatively broader skulls and larger trunks than African elephants. Toes are large and broad. Unlike their African cousins, their abdomen is proportionate with their body weight but the African elephant has a large abdomen as compared to the skulls.

 

Indian elephants are native to mainland Asia: India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand, Malay Peninsular, Laos, China, Cambodia, and Vietnam. They inhabit grasslands, dry deciduous, moist deciduous, evergreen and semi-evergreen forests.

I don't really feel like I explored my ideas well enough on here, to start production or to feel comfortable in finalising my concept. But that is all a bit late now! As we get into production I can only imagine I'm going to start to feel like this poor guy....

But right now, this is what I've been doing, fabric sourcing, searching through countless books at work, and online everywhere to find exactly what im after.

• The skin of the elephant is not very thick, except around the back and sides
• The skin is marked with ridged creases resembling warty outgrowths, which is abundant on the trunk and forehead
• There seems to be an absence of sweat glands in the elephant
• The natural skin colour is greyish black, but the apparent colour is determined by the soil of the land (this is caused by the elephant throwing mud over its back.

Swimwear, Modest or Not?

In a true sense when the word swimwear comes into mind, we think 'sexy, slimming, skimpy & less is best". We all reference swimwear in some form, to that of the BayWatch babes.

But in histroy, before the BayWatch era, Women and Men of the 60's & earlier were very modest when it came to swimsuits. Why is it that this image, is no longer 'acceptable' to wear modest garments to the beach, and why is society advocating, less is best?

When it comes to fashion, trends go in circles, always re-visiting and replicating the past in 'modern' ways. In swimwear terms, prints and visual ideas have been replicated, but not the same 'modest' shapes. Why is this? Why does swimwear, live on a boat of its own? How can we as contemporary fashion designers turn swimwear into something thats fashionable, modest and protective.

The questions I'm asking myself, are questions that I could simply just keep on asking.. how do you find a happy medium, a middle line when it comes to looking good, and being modest and protective.

Modest Menswear

Modesty & Fashion, are two words that are rarely used in the same sentence. When we talk about fashion of the contemporary type, we generally are talking colour, cut outs oversizing, and generally anything that isn't modest. How? and Why? has western culture become this way, and is there such things as Modest Fashion?

Menswear is a whole totally different 'kettle of fish' when it comes to modesty, excuse my use of Australian slang... But what do you call modest in terms of mens fashion? Is it the idea of a suit? Or the idea of simply covering up? What truly enables mens fashion to be modest or not?
